Remembering Mahatma Gandhi

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi has undoubtedly set a milestone in the history of this country and clearly, his journey justifies the salutation ‘Mahatma’. On this very day, this great man was born. We memorize how the picture of contemporary India was changed from ‘gulam’ to ‘azaad’ with major contribution given by him.

We all have been inspired by his work so well that we have come up with terms relating to his behavior, well known as Gandhism, Gandhianism and Gandhigiri. Gandhiji’s teachings and his belief in the path of non-violence
have set an example to the entire world. Earl Mountatten, the last Viceroy of India, said, “Mahatma Gandhi will go down in history on a par with Buddha and Jesus Christ.” Bollywood also tried to depict the basic principles of speaking truth and avoid violence through the movie Munnabhai MBBS. But the real crux of the
principles is not understood, neither applied in our daily life.

The present era is a play that is dramatized with lots of mocking stories and selfish intentions that are shown as melodrama. Very few guinine people are left who really care of integrity and moral behavior. This fake behavior is found in every profession, for every age group and for every purpose. Some think they are doing unintentionally, but it inculcates a practice that they cannot take themselves out of this. A very clear reason behind all this hypocrisy is greed for money, power, position and personal benefits. Everybody is trying to fool everyone else. Each person is running a race where they feel proud enough that they achieved something just as a result of be-fooling and coning people around them. If the behavior is taken into a bigger scale, nations are conforming to the peace treaties and along with it,playing games and polities in order to have their share of security and benefits.

So the message Gandhi ji has left for the masses is in no way questionable on any ground, but it also requires a smart approach, patience and audacious heart to go till the finish line. Violence would only bring a revenge as a answer to a revenge and never allow peace to settle in relationships with other countries. As Baapuji himself said:
I have nothing new to teach the world. Truth and non-violence are as old as the hills. All I have done is to try experiments in both on as vast a scale as I could.”

Happy Gandhi Jayanti to everyone!!
